Contracted to support EDC’s largest ever training initiative, which included over 70 training modules for 500 employees across 20 audience groups.

  • Prepared and administered the training evaluation strategy, to ensure the success of the learners and of the overall training program
  • Prepared a strategy and plan to prepare the technical environment for training. Compiled user and lab requirements for 8 business groups and managed the process to load personalized data sets for each trainee’s in-class labs and exercises.
  • Identified recorded demo requirements to support each audience’s “learning pathway”; prepared a plan to develop instructional videos on 38 topics. Prepared the scripts, coordinated subject matter expert reviews, and edited and produced each narrated demo in English and in French using Adobe Captivate.
  • Conducted a needs assessment for the subsequent implementation phase; prepared 20+ learning modules with supporting reference materials.

  • Developed a detailed schedule of training development tasks using Microsoft Project.
  • Developed two train-the-trainer modules to capture new resident services from both a user and support perspective, including a new troubleshooting model. Worked with business experts and trainers to refine module content.
  • Designed user manuals and quick reference sheets to train support staff on new lines of business. The quick reference sheets were also made available to City residents.
  • Created rollout frameworks (strategy, sequence of events, resources, timing and support tools) to introduce ‘eCollaboration’ and video conferencing technologies to City Staff.
  • Assembled and maintained a deployment timeline in Microsoft Visio to plan and track the rollout of eCollaboration tools to over 20 internal departments.
IRCC – GCMS Curriculum Maintenance

Invited to return to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to manage, enhance and expand the Global Case Management (GCMS) training curriculum Crimson conceived and developed in 2009-2011 for a training audience of over 5,000 users.

  • Conceived training and user acceptance strategies to address new lines of business.
  • Updated course ware to reflect new GCMS functionality.
  • Coordinated the assembly, translation and distribution of GCMS newsletters and release notes.
  • Introduced an initiative to develop and integrate video-based training.
  • Edited and produced instructional videos Camtasia Studio.
  • Developed and managed GCMS deployment timelines diagrams using Micorsoft Visio, to help directors plan and manage multiple deployment and training initiatives leading up to each GCMS release.
IRCC – Passport Program Modernization Initiative (PPMI)
Contracted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to provide instructional design support and guidance for PPMI.

  • Conducted the needs analysis through senior management consultations, interdepartmental reviews with stakeholders, process mapping and documentation reviews. Presented the proposed solution by audience, module and release for 1500+ trainees.
  • Prepared presentations, briefings and content for senior management engagement.
  • Conceived and prepared detailed requirements for the establishment of an online training environment and delivery approach.
  • Analyzed business procedures; supported the development of classroom-based and virtual-delivery training modules.

As Fujitsu’s Training Lead, designed a three-module initiative to facilitate the implementation of a biometrics technology solution for Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Temporary Resident Biometrics Project. Modules include interactive e-learning, train-the-trainer and Fujitsu-led technical training.

  • Partnered with the Project throughout learning design, development and delivery to ensure the success of Fujitsu’s technology training, including integration with Project-driven training initiatives and materials.
  • Designed all e-learning storyboard content and managed graphic design and programming using the client-supplied template and intranet as the basis for delivery.
  • Developed all thain-the-trainer and Fujitsu-led training materials, including content, excercises, instructional data and supporting quick reference materials.
IRCC – Temporary Resident Biometrics Project

As a consultant, developed a detailed training plan and schedule to support the rollout of a biometrics technical solution and new business workflows to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) missions and visa application centres world-wide. The solution included a blend of e-learning, classroom, self-directed and on-the-job tools materials (13 modules in all) to support a varied and dispersed user audience during a phased implementation.

  • Provided recommendations and guidance on all areas of training design , development, delivery and evaulation.
  • Developed templates for classroom and self-directed learning components.
IRCC Global Case Management System (GCMS) Project
Project Training Lead, Ottawa, Ontario

Conceived and developed the training initiative for Immigraion, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Global Case Management System (GCMS) Project. The training solution included 26 self-paced workbooks and user access to an instructional version og GCMS. Developed a detailed plan and development schedule and led a team of instructional designers, subject matter experts, technical writers and training coordinators for planned delivery across Canada and to 64 IRCC missions worldwide.

  • Performed a needs analysis and developed a training plan to address the world-wide rollout of a web application to 5,000 users.
  • Designed a training solution that included 26 individual modules, the creation of a context-sensitive online user guide and tiered user support mechanisms.
  • Established and managed a training development model and schedule leveraging technical and business expertise.
  • Facilitated the integration of two business lines in order to design the GCMS training solution.
RCMP Real Time Identification (RTID) Project
Project Training Lead, Ottawa, Ontario

Contracted to define and execute a comprehensive strategy for training 450 RCMP staff during Phase 1 of the RCMP’s $100M+ Real Time Identification (RTID) Project. Developed a 25-stream learning solution, coordinated training module development and delivery, led and supported a five-member team of instructional designers, technical writers, trainers, and training coordinators, and ensured state–of-the-art delivery across 50 job roles.

  • Delivered on one of the RCMP’s most complex technical training initiatives; provided 17 modules (in two languages) to 450 employees.
  • Provided trainees with a comprehensive overview of workflows so that each knew how his or her individual contributions impacted overall business performance; this was a major transformation for a workforce that was accustomed to working in silos.
  • RTID training curriculum currently serves as the long-term platform for updates and business process changes; training package also being used as the standard for new employee orientation and training.
RCMP Canadian Police Information Centre (cpic) Renewal Project

Managed training and deployment (contracted) for multi-phased, $150M+ Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) Renewal Project. Conducted training needs assessment for CPIC end-users and operational support personnel, generated and presented training cost/benefit options analysis, conceived and developed training strategies and plans, and oversaw six staff and $500,000 budget.

  • Established a training program supporting up to 50,000 end users and more than 100 government agencies across Canada; designed the training module templates and wrote training content (including e-learning storyboards, self-paced workbook materials, trainer guides, and more).
  • Delivered the CPIC’s first-ever blended learning solution which decreased the number of user-initiated help requests and became the standard for subsequent self-directed training programs at CPIC.
